BACK TO SCHOOL BASH
Our next park day will be August 12, 2017 from 10-1pm  at Cottonwood Park (8500 midpark)
There will be free food, health screening, games, raffles, face painting and much more.  We hope you can make it, support Oak Hollow, your neighbors and children and our greater neighborhood community.
Please let us know if you would like to volunteer, we will have staff helping set everything up along with staff from our neighbor apartment complexes on Maham/Esperanza

11/5/2016

The oak hollow community was thrilled to partake in a great park day celebration along side our neighborhood friends, apartment complexes, local businesses and the City of Dallas police department who reached out and created a wonderful day at cottonwood park and in doing so helped rename Maham road to "Esperanza". With over 700 votes casts it was clear that our communities needed a fresh start and we think the name is a great start.

Our next crime watch will be this wednesday at 5:30 pm in Phase III.  It will be in the courtyard, outside, to take advantage of the sunny weather.  We will have cookies and drinks for those who attend, first come first served basis, and the Dallas PD will be in attendance.  We will discuss:
1. lock, take, & hide.
2. how to keep your valuables safe
3. how to report and when to report suspicious persons on the property
(report anyone you don't recognize on the property, doing anything suspicious.  i.e. going around looking at cars or loitering.)

We welcome any suggestions for this or any future crime watch meetings, currently we have a crime watch scheduled for every other month throughout the summer, but if you would like more, we can certainly have one monthly.

Hope to see you all there.

Our Crime watch went swimmingly, with over 30 residents in attendance, DPD officer Solis, and Chase bank providing free pizza and advice on how to open a checking account and keeping ourselves safe, I think it was a smashing success.

Quick overview:
Report any suspicious activity, keeping note of any vehicle information and person identification information, time and place that you notice any suspects or suspicious behavior.
Open a checking account, don't keep your money in your mattress.
Lock Take & Hide your belongings in your vehicle and your home.  Don't let the bad guys know you have valuables worth taking.
Keep an eye out on the kids in your neighborhood, tell their parents if they are causing mischief or hanging out with the wrong type of people.

Never be afraid to call 911 , you can call anonymously, the police are here to help you.

Thanks for coming, our next crime watch is in 2 months, on the 13th of May, around 6pm, if the time changes I will post here, also flyers will be passed out the week before.

We will be having our annual crime watch meeting on 3/15/2012 at 5-5:30pm, there will be snacks, and chase bank and a Dallas Police Officer to assist in explaining safety procedures and how to make our neighborhood safer and where and when to call 911. I hope we have a big crowd.

The first crime watch of the year went exceptionally well.  We had well over 50 tenants show up, 4 Dallas Police Officers, and 2 representatives from Chase Bank.
Free pizza and cookies  were eaten, DPD informed us of many good tips on how to keep safe and more than a few residents look to be on their way to opening their first bank account.

A special thanks goes out to Officer Burke and Solis for making the crime watch an informative, well run, bilingual event.

A recap of the information shared by DPD:
1. Lock, Take & Hide:
Never leave your belongings in your car, remove them whenever your car is unoccupied, or hide them in the glove box or under the seat.  But if at all possible, take them inside with you.

2. Do not show off any valuables to anyone, including friends or co-workers.  That nice TV you showed off last week may be missing next week.

3. Report any suspicious activity, unknown persons wandering the parking lots or buildings, or unknown "contract workers" to the office immediately to confirm if they are a contract worker or simply a criminal with a tool belt.

4. Call the police immediately if you witness a crime or suspect a crime is about to happen, such as a vehicle break in or home break in.  (if people are snooping around, looking in car windows or apartment windows, day or night, call the police with a full description immediately.)  If it is nothing, no harm can be done.  You can call anonymously.

5.  Please use our website, click on "contact/apply" and click on "crime watch tip form" to give us any information about suspicious activity or problem tenants.

6.  Let the office know of any lighting issues immediately.  We will fix it right away or order the parts and have it fixed as soon as possible.

7.  Please do not take the lights from outside your doors and use them inside.  The outside lights are for safety.  You can come to the office and buy light bulbs for $0.50 cents a light.
